Break out of the cologne mode!

There’s that classic cologne scent – Old Spice mixed with soap and maybe a little aftershave, but even the aftershave was scented with Old Spice. Well, once you get to a certain generation, nobody wants to smell the same cologne their father, grandfather, and great-grandfather wore everyday. This goes triple for women. Who wants to be getting intimate and have the scent of cologne bring thoughts of her father to mind? That’s a pretty awkward moment in colognes.

Instead, experiment with your cologne. Think of it as an extension of yourself, a fragrance meant to represent your personality. Maybe you’re elegant and upscale like Armani cologne. Maybe you want something sportier, something more nautical, or something earthier. Regardless of your cologne taste, there are probably two dozen colognes out there to suit your preferences. It’s all in which cologne smells best to you and which smells best on you.

Have a female friend go cologne shopping with you. Spritz a little in the air, wait a second, then walk through the cologne cloud. Now go shopping for an hour or two, have her smell you, and make your decision. Cologne smells different on you rather than on test sticks, so let it absorb into your skin before you decide. You don’t have to spend tons of money on Armani cologne, but you should try to steer clear of the same scent your dad wears… just in case that shopping trip gets a little intimate.
