Makeup brushes are often one of those elements that women neglect. They spend tons of money on their cosmetics, then they turn around and buy $2 makeup brushes and figure they’ll work well enough. Nope! Wrong. Makeup brushes are as important – and sometimes more important – as the rest of the items in your makeup case. They can help a look go from good to great, or your cosmetic brushes can take what would normally be a decent look and send it down the drain.

Think about your makeup brushes like this: would you use tissues to wipe the powder onto your face or the shadow onto your eyes? Probably not, yet when you use drugstore makeup brushes that don’t separate well enough you may as well have done just that. Even worse, some cosmetic brushes separate too well. You have your look perfect, you’ve applied your foundation, powder, and everything, then you apply your eye shadow with your cheap makeup brushes. Two hours later, your boyfriend is picking bristles off your eyelid and trying to figure out when you became so hairy. Not really a good look, huh?

It’s important to invest in makeup brushes that can work with your look and your lifestyle. If you’re feeling badly about spending a ton of money on makeup brushes, think about them as an investment. That brush can be washed weekly and it’ll last forever. There aren’t many other things in your makeup case that can claim that. Makeup brushes, without a doubt, should be a lifetime purchase.
