Makeup has been around far longer than Bobbi Brown, longer than Estee Lauder, longer than permanent makeup, and longer than Revlon, Clairol, or any other company you can think of. Makeup has been around since ancient times, when women attempted the first archaic makeup by crushing berries, twigs, and other natural resources and forming a paste. They then applied the paste to their eyes, lips, and cheeks to make, you guessed it, makeup.

That rosy glow was so appealing to men that makeup became a permanent accessory and has lasted through the ages to today. Now we have things like permanent makeup and airbrush makeup, which are far more complex than those original formulas but still accomplish the same basic goal – to look and feel beautiful. While makeup went out of style with religiously based groups like the Puritans, for the most part it has been used and adored by women throughout the ages.

Many believe that women use makeup to make themselves more appealing to men, or even more appealing to women. While this can be true, many find that the main reason for makeup is that it makes women feel gorgeous and confident by making them feel good about the way they look on the outside. This can be torn down if someone cakes on a little too much makeup, but new revolutions like airbrush makeup make it almost foolproof. It doesn’t matter that you never really learned to be girly, you can learn now and still look fabulous!
